Here we are - 2008 just begun and it seems that a lot of world’s popular websites - and it does not matter how orientated are these sites - they are going beyond Web 2.0. The users, the publishers, the customers and everybody who wants to feel “at home” by visiting some internet media, social network or what ever web site s/he likes - the time has come.

We can now be ourselves, all the internet users no matter what they seek for on the web, they can act like they own the site, or at least make it look the way they want.

Customization rules!

Last month BBC launched their beta new look - and guess what, it is turned on the customer. You can completely arrange everything on the new site to the way you like it. From news stories to weather forecast in your home city, you can set to view only the sports news you like, you may see only the last post from the bloggers you think write closer to your manner.

All this, more or less, tell people that they are visitors to one of the most friendliest websites on the net. What else you like, when you open the site you see only your news, your sports, your home town etc…

The good news is that its not only BBC that turns their site into customer home zone. Enjoyable for everyone! Just read on ReadWriteWeb (and then checked), that CNN start to encourage more and more the citizens to participate in the news stories and report with their own news. This may include not only text but videos. Just imagine, what will some people send to CNN .

The same happens and to New York Times - they ” …affirm the usefulness of citizen journalists and microjournalism tools to the reporting of major news stories…”.

I think that all this simply shows that the web is too narrowed and limited already. We just need to use our illusion to make it look just the way we like.

Express yourself!

I just subscribed to BlogRush - the newest and coolest syndication blog network. I find it very attractive and useful as it lets all blog owners to show the most popular blog posts from the network in a nice designed widget you may find on BlogRush website.

Once you start displaying the other bloggers posts and refer people to those posts, you are starting to gain points. As many referring views you have as many of your blog posts will be shown across the network.

What are the benefits - well, of course it’s all about traffic and readers. If you have a successful blog but what to spread its power, then you need to do something more. I think that this new network will be nice way to promote your blog and increase the popularity of what you think about the world.

Remember that once you start appear on the other blogs’ widgets you can even monetize your blog, if that is the purpose. From other side you will always stay informed on what the bloggers are writing about
