Despite all the noise surrounding the web regarding the way Google is starting to treat the paid links I think that there are still some very good companies offering you the possibility to sell text links.

OK, what happened in the past weeks. At SES San Jose there has been announced that people will have to stop accepting paid links to their websites OR at least beware how and which ones are OK for them. What stays behind this.

As Matt Cutts says the paid link “…should be labeled in one of the following ways:

• Use a redirect through URL blocked by robots.txt

• Redirect through a URL using a 302

• Use Javascript to direct the link

• Apply the rel=”nofollow” attribute to the link

• Add the Meta Robots = “nofollow” to the page header…”

This sounds fair enough and not because you, as publisher, should (probably) indicate what is the type of the link, is it a sponsored, paid or just a recommendation. From this point of view, yes, all we should be OK because the visitors and readers will also know what they are click on. On other hand, the crawlers and robots will easily recognize the links and the search engines will have better view on how to rank the different websites.

Matt Cutts says also that Google have this policy from 2005 when they started to change their ranking model and algorithm. He adds that that does not mean you do not have to buy or sell links but to check on where the links are coming from. What about the companies that sell link, most of them are excluded and probably if you buy from Text-link-ads you may have troubles, that is why they recently started using the tiny url services to pass and respect the new google strategy.

So far so good, what’s next. The people will hear one way or another that the links are “bad” and will stop selling them, what about the profits of the site owners? They will certainly suffer and will have to find other ways to make money.

Another thing, adwords exists for a long time now, there are no that many internet users that are not aware of what is happening when they click on text or banners having “ads by google” somewhere around them. So, the clicks coming from adwords decreased. Google then have to do something about it, what probable they came up with is to crush the competitors and the business (and the spammers too of course). They change the way the search engine works and stop bothering about the paid links.

From other hand they still show the paid listings through adwords and show them in their search results and what is most important, those results include links to sites that sell links! What is that if not hypocrisy and double standart -”we do not recommend to use such a service, but we still accept their money for our ad program”.

Well, what the business will do if do not want to use some crappy SEO services or believe in the good will of the Web Revolution? Of course most of the companies will start again using the paid listings of the big search engines and the latter will continue to make big money.

One more thing, most of the people do not have the knowledge to understand the meaning of adwords and it is true that most of the advertisers are not reading, what is written as explanation so most of the ad campaigns are not that effective which makes them profitable to google, because they place your listings all over and its up to you as advertiser to exclude or include some website.

Moreover, the “recommendation” of not using any paid-link services directs the companies directly to google, which is killing the competition of the different businesses because in fact they cannot choose the exact locations of their ads, they cannot attract customers only because one or another website chosen to show specific ad!

So, finally , this may only lead to rivalry, but a strange one - lets see who will pay more to google or yahoo, so they can place my ads on better places!

The good news here are only 2 - this strategy will reduce the number of spam and scam links and lots of fake websites will simple disappear from the search engines and least but not last - the web publishers will start making more money when using these programs !

As far as I am concerned it is only matter of time for a blog/blogger to get more traffic and readers. It really even does not matter if your posts are good enough, unique enough or pure quality. If you write on a regular basis, your posts are telling something and you constantly build on making and developing themes you previously started or start a fresh ones once a week or two weeks, there is no way for you and your blog to stay invisible for the public.

Building readers community - well, this is very important, a blogger should care of it as you need to count on those people who “waste” their time to read your thoughts. Of course you need their opinions and comments too - this is the kind of support you cannot receive in other way - does not matter what if they say good or bad, it will be all about your blog growth.

There will always one not that small part of your readers that will come accidentally and will not stay and become readers, but it will still be additional traffic to your website and you need it.

Time for a link building strategy - well, if you want to be highly ranked, just start blogging, if your links are staying out there but the content you present is not frequently updated, then what about the links, the blog will die.

Placing ads all around -  not that bad, the people does not like ads but if you have those, that will probably mean to them you blog not only for them public but also to make some profit, blogging is a job by all means. I have ads too, and believe me, once/if the blog starts growing I will remove most of them. I am sure most of people do the opposite, start without ads and them make it all and only ads.

Bad or Good Blogger - when I read and visit like 20-30 blogs a day (it depends), I see that, there are generally two types of blogs - ones dedicated if blogging about blogging, or blogging about something specific but still trying to give their audiences something special, or at least sounding like special, give tips and advices on how to start a successful blog careers etc, but still making lots of money from blogging, and there are those bloggers that directly are saying - “…we blog for money, you can hear from us how to make money with your blog posts, we will tell you what is the amount of money we make from ads you click on, every month, and we think that is OK”.

Why I am writing all this - I got inspired by several posts regarding the blogs, the posts, the success and the role of the SEO and domain names.

This post is a guest post on Problogger.net and it is about the things you need to do and follow to become a “real” blogger. I cannot really agree with all the formulas given but that is why people are persons, to give their opinions and arguments.

The same author - Leo Babauta, but this time the post is from his blog NorthXEast.com, gives 10 Ways to focus on the reader and build long-therm traffic. It is all true, but in the end if your blog strategy is built on something else, as I said above, the links and the traffic will come as long as you keep posting.

And something a little bit different - a post from Performancing.com which is called “Domaining + SEO = Need for Automated Development“. It makes all the bloggers world, all the blogging tips and trick as non senses! The author, Rich McIver simply says that if you want to be a professional blogger, you cannot do it alone, you have to invest in advertising your own blog before starting receiving money from advertisers. Your website design just does not count if the content you have is not the one your readers expect.

In other words - the blogging industry is making money on very high turnovers and there is nothing the bloggers do for the public and only for it.
